We are now sitting just over half way up Krusenstern lake and have made our biggest gains yet, covering 5.7 nautical miles today.
Yesterday things looked grim with an ice bridge of about 100 metres between us and clear water. To try and dislodge this we donned dry suits and entered the water to try and break up the ice in the hope that, with the help of the wind, a lead would open up.
We awoke this morning and the ice was better but still blocking our way so Dom decided on a small portage around it. This was a total distance of about 400m and took about two hours but was well worth it.
All in all a good day.
