South West explorer Dom Mee’s latest documentary hits prime time on National Geographic channel
Dom’s Footage from his last two expedition’s a solo kayak through the Arctic’s notorious North- west Passage and his leading of the Royal Navy’s Arctic Quest expedition where he and his team successfully found the Victorian ship ‘The Victory’ lost in the ice for 170 years. This has been documented by National Geographic and made into a documentary to be televised 21st Febru- ary 2005 1900hrs titled ‘Into the Unknown’ on the Adventure One Channel; and then repeated on the core channel later this year. The post expedition report will also be going to press at the beginning of that week, syndicated around the world to governments and geographical institu- tions outlining the challenges facing Inuit Culture, global warming and providing a catalogue of their historical discoveries.
This Expedition consisted of 4 Royal Marines from South West based units, Dom who is a serving Royal Marine reservist and Mark Hankey a Royal Navy reservist who is a direct descendent of the Victory’s original captain Sir John Ross RN. The final member of the team was Susie Cox a female historical researcher. The team were in the Arctic region for six weeks in some of the worst ice conditions for over 60 years.
“I am thrilled that National Geographic has given me the opportunity to provide a window into two years Arctic exploration. This glimpse allows my family friends sponsors and followers to experience some aspects of my solo and teams adventures.” Quotes Dom Mee.
The Documentary will go to air on the National Geographic channels, Adventure One Channel at 1900hrs on Monday the 21st February 2005.
It will then be syndicated throughout the entire network.
