Meeting Prince Philip and talking to Degussa at the foot of the Eiger
It has been an interesting time since the team were exhibiting at the London Boat Show. The biggest task since the last Arctic expedition has been writing the post expedition report which has been a huge task, but I am happy to say it is now completed. We will be posting the report on this website making it available to you all in our drive to assist future expeditions to this remote region.
I had a wonderful speaking engagement in Switzerland were I spoke of my expeditions to Degussa AG Construction Chemicals in the wonderful setting of Grindelwald. The Swiss Alps are beautiful and Grindelwald is located at the base of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains. I enjoyed the very generous hospitality of Degussa and made many friends. The mountains also gave me the opportunity to reflect on the last two expeditions and focus on the new challenges ahead.
I had the great honour of being invited to St James Palace to meet with Prince Philip and to present the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awards to the young people from Northern Ireland. I had a great time at the Palace and enjoyed meeting such focused young people who I am sure will continue to achieve many of their personal goals in the future. I also met former Royal Marine Bruce Parry who has just finished his excellent series ‘Tribe’ which was shown on BBC2.
My public speaking engagements continue to fill the diary along with public appearances. My latest documentary was aired this week on Adventure One Channel covering the last two expeditions to the Arctic a big thank you to Creative Touch Films for putting together such a great programme. The programme will be repeated on National Geographic Channel later in the year we will post the date and time on the website.
I will be conducting another expedition this year; keep coming back to the website for further details.
